Volunteer Roles

Ian, Healthlink Member, 2023

"Healthlink has helped my wellbeing because I am now able to get to vital appointments and health services quicker. The service is great because it has helped improve accessibility for me and given me peace of mind. I couldn't walk down to the taxis I needed before their help."

These are the volunteer roles that we’re currently recruiting for:

Details on how to apply are listed below – If you would like a chat to ask questions, then call us on 01273 688 117.

Activity Lead

Share your interest or skill with a group of local people over 50. Our volunteer Activity Leads run a range of activities from exercise, music, games, social, and we’re always looking to introduce more. If you can you spare a few hours a month to help share or teach something you’re passionate about, then we help you to set it up.

Tech Tutor

Help someone 50+ learn how to use technology to get better access to health and social care services, connect to friends and family, and follow their hobbies and interests. Our volunteers Tech Tutors support people on a one-to-one basis, remotely or face-to-face – providing a weekly support session to help people learn. It could be someone that has never used technology before, or someone that has, but lacks confidence.

They may have their own equipment (phone, tablet, laptop), or one that we have loaned them from our Silver Circles – Tablet Loan & Support Service.

You can also take on a more engaging role, by connecting to play online games socially, like Chess, Scrabble or one of your choosing. Encouraging them to connect and play with other, supporting them to have fun.

Healthlink Volunteer (Currently paused due to Covid-19)

Healthlink volunteers accompany those 50+ to health appointments such as GP, hospital and dentists. They may not want to burden their family, or family no longer live locally, or they don’t have any. It’s so much easier with company and support, so our volunteers give that support.

It’s not a transport service, we don’t take people there, our volunteers accompany them to the appointment, wait during your, and then return with them. They can wait outside during a visit or join them to take some basic notes. It’s a vital service for many older people and can be a very rewarding experience to both the volunteer and member.
